About The Corps

USNSCC is comprised of two programs. The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) program is for young people ages 13 through 17 and the Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC), for young people ages 11 through 13, (10 year olds can join pending an approved age waiver). We are sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by both the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.  The Goals of Our Cadet Programs At the request of the Department of the Navy, the Navy League of the United States established the USNSCC in 1958 to "create a favorable image of the Navy on the part of American youth".  Today's U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps continues to further the image of our maritime services by adhering to a standardized training program designed to:

  • Develop an interest and ability in seamanship and seagoing skills
  • Instill virtues of good citizenship and strong moral principles in each cadet
  • Demonstrate the value of an alcohol-free, drug-free and gang-free lifestyle
  • Expose cadets to the prestige of public service and a variety of career paths through hands-on training with our nation's armed services.

When you join as a League Cadet or Sea Cadet, you will start to meet with our local unit. Depending on when you join, during either summer vacation or winter vacation, you will have your first opportunity to attend an orientation class or recruit training session. After successful completion of your orientation or recruit training, you can progress to more advanced training.

Our Unit

1124th Construction Battalion

We are an established unit with strong community ties in Henry County and the surrounding areas.  Our unit normally meets one weekend a month.  We have experienced staff that volunteer their time and talents to the program.  Our normal drill site is at Luella High School, in Locust Grove.  We encourage our cadets to give back to their community with frequent community service opportunities.  We often participate in local and regional parades, Atlanta's Veterans' Day Parade, McDonough Christmas Parade, to name a couple.  Our color guard makes frequent appearances throughout the year.  We work hard, and we play hard.

Sea Cadets is an outstanding, rewarding program for young men and ladies.  In just a short time in the program, your child will start to become a stronger, more confident person with genuine life skills to help in their future.
